Custom Melody
The following section explains how to order a custom melody.
To have a custom song, please select CUSTOM Melody as Melody variant. It will take around 6 weeks to manufacture.
A custom metal drum will be manufactured for you.
🎶🎵🎶 How to order 🎶🎵🎶
Please send us a name and a link to a song on Youtube together with the time interval you are interested in. For example:
"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjhCEhWiKXk, Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are, 0:25 - 0:45"
IMPORTANT: make sure the length of the fragment is 14 – 24 seconds (music box limitation).
Due to music box limitations, not all songs can be converted into a nice sounding music box melody. Rap/hip hop, jazz and songs with a lot of repeating notes would not work out well.
Usually, the best part would be a chorus. Please send the song original and not a piano/music box version.
⚠️ If your song cannot be converted into 18-Note music box melody, we can try a different song or opt for a refund.
⚠️ If we have already converted your song into 18-Note melody, there will be a $30 non-refundable Conversion fee.
⚠️ About melody revisions - Please note that we can't guarantee your requested changes are doable due to physical limitations of the music box.
⚠️ Due to the natural difference between the audio demo (digital) and the actual music box (mechanical), there might be a slight difference on how they sound.
🛑 The order will not move forward until we get your approval for the melody. Your timely responses will definitely help us process your order in a timely manner too. Please add our email to your address book and check your Spam and Promotion tabs if you are not getting emails!
❗❗ Custom melody orders that are in the "Manufacturing Mechanism" stage and onwards can no longer be changed or canceled. Returns / exchanges are not accepted for customized orders but please contact us for order issues.
Custom Engravings
You may select "Text-Only" option, if you prefer the engraving to be text only. Font choices available.
For designs more complicated than text, select "Custom Design Process". We'll make an engravable design based on your instructions.
Or choose from our available "Engraving Templates", and provide the necessary customization details.
Listen to Predefined Melodies
Predefined Melodies are mass produced melodies that do not require custom work.
You can use CMD+F on Mac OS and CTRL+F on Windows to search a song via your browser
Shipping & Payments
🚛 We usually ship from California, U.S. If you are located outside U.S., please be aware that you might need to pay an Import tax to Customs. Unfortunately, we can not falsify the Customs form as that would be considered a crime.
❗️If you are outside U.S. it is very important that you provide a correct phone number so that Customs may contact you if there is a need. Also, if you are GIFTING this to someone else, please warn them the parcel is coming their way that might need to be paid for.
💸 Returns are not accepted as the work is custom made and we can't put it back in stock. However, please contact us if there is an issue with your order!
Every Donuma music box is made after you order it, so most of the wait is us making it rather than the parcel travelling. Here is what the last 15 months of real orders actually took.
How long it takes
A melody from our library
about 14 days
from the day you order
Nine orders in ten arrive within 23 days. Your song is already in the workshop, so the box goes straight to engraving.
Your own song, arranged for you
about 23 days
from the day you order
Nine orders in ten arrive within 36 days. We arrange the melody, cut the mechanism and test it before it ships.
Day counts are for delivery inside the United States and assume we have everything we need from you. If we have a question about your song or engraving, the clock pauses until you reply.
In a hurry? The Rush Production add-on moves your box to the front of the queue and takes about six days off a custom melody build. It is worth adding when you have a fixed date; it does not speed up the mail, only the making.

What you ordered
United States
Rest of world
Melody from our library (Predefined Melody)
14–23 days
19–34 days
Your own song (Custom Melody)
23–36 days
28–45 days
A Predefined Melody is a tune we have already arranged and keep in our library. A Custom Melody is a song we arrange and cut specially for your order, even if you have seen us make it for someone else before, which is why it takes longer and is priced differently. Ranges run from the typical order to the slowest nine in ten, and already include the time in the mail. Adding Rush Production shortens the making, so it pulls the whole range in by about six days. International orders also pass through customs in the destination country, which we cannot see or speed up.
What makes an order take longer
A custom song we need to arrange from scratch. Engraving on several sides, or a photo that needs retouching. Any change you make after the order is placed. Waiting on your reply to a question. Customs clearance outside the United States. And the weeks before Christmas and Mother's Day, when the workshop is busiest.
Once it ships
You get a tracking link by email the moment the label is printed. Shipping timeframe varies depending on the shipping method selected and your location. Inside the United States the box arrives at least four days later; international parcels typically take at least a week or two after they leave us.
Based on 660 music box orders from the past 15 months — 624 shipped, 387 with a confirmed delivery date. Figures last checked October 15, 2026, and refreshed every week. Any dates shown above are counted from the day you open this page.

I loved this gift so much. This makes such a cute gift! I had made a mistake and made the design a little too big for the piece but Donuma was very cooperative and helpful and even reached out twice to help me fix it and look even better. It came very quickly too and the packaging was very well done and pretty. The sound of the music was very high quality and so was the entirety of the box. If you’re thinking of buying one, I should encourage you to do so. Thank you!!!

Outstanding customer service! The Donuma team was available for me at every stage of my order; every question I asked, they answered. Also, my order was written in Spanish, and they got to work around it. This was a gift for my best friend; her dog passed the rainbow breach so you could imagine; she loved it; it was so worth it. The complementary gift wrap was fantastic, high quality, and top-notch of a present. I would recommend it. (Educate yourself about the shipping process before ordering, they take their time to manufacture the whole box)

Thank you for taking the time to review, Nicole. All the best!
When I ordered a custom melody, I wanted it to be perfect, and I got exactly what I wanted. I asked for a few alterations to the first musical piece presented to me, and the staff were very patient and provided a very user friendly method to make whatever edits I needed. The quality is great and it's just everything I'd hoped for.

Thanks for taking the time to review, Braden!
I first contacted them on etsy asking if it would be possible to receive just the customized box and not the mechanism and they replied in the affirmative. They responded quickly and the box I recieved is amazing! A custom music box from this store is a little out of my budget at the moment but should I ever have the funds I would definitely like to order one!
I can’t even describe how happy I am with this product! The music box itself is high quality and absolutely gorgeous. It came in a really cute box that protected it well since it arrived without any damage or marks. It also came quite a bit earlier than I had anticipated. The customer service was awesome and they were super friendly/helpful. This is the absolute perfect gift for my music teacher and I’ll definitely be buying from them again in the future!
Absolutely gorgeous work. I purchased a custom music box with our college alma mater for my dear friends as a wedding present and I’ve never been more excited to give a gift. The sound quality is amazing, the arrangement of the song is perfect, the box is gorgeous. Worth every single cent.
STUNNING!!!!
I can not express how beautiful this little box is!
My order was shipped right away, Agnes was fantastic, and engraved exactly what I wanted.

So PERFECT! Ordered this for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and I think he will love it! Great quality for the box itself, music sounds just like the sample (I chose Fly Me to the Moon), shipping was fast, quality of the photo looks great, engraving at top looks elegant...just overall in love with this little music box!
From start to finish the team had excellent correspondence in accordance to our requests. The custom song of choice was well executed and the music box is very finely crafted. We love it!
Terrific purchasing experience and great communication. Very timely delivery. The product looks and sounds amazing. Great gift wrapping too. Beyond my expectations!

The music box is beyond what I expected!!! So sturdy and well-made, really beautiful. The engravings look perfect and they also turned the song file I sent them into a beautiful mechanical version of the melody, I couldn't have hoped for more, seriously. In this cold, digital world, this wood music box, with its manually operated works, is a real, personal treasure. I can't wait to give it to my girlfriend for our anniversary. This company is fantastic, if you are hesitating to get anything or to pay for a custom box--don't--it's completely worth it!

This is the second music box I order and just like the first one, I am very satisfied. I’ve ordered music boxes in the past from other places and the quality and the way the music plays doesn’t compare.
Genuinely not a single critique I could give the people who made this. It came out as exactly what I wanted. They were super helpful in the process while it was being made. They gave me a bunch of updates and it honestly came much sooner than I expected. Would totally use them again!

We hope your mother will like the music box. Thank you, Clinton!
